This it's the place for fun and fancy hobbies!!
:O)
I've finally made the time to dredge through my old image files, and found a few from my very first slot canyon trip. This one caught my eye because of the shape of the light beam, which appears to be curving and twisting like the sandstone walls all around it.
:)
From the airplane descending toward the airport of Lamentin, near Fort-de-France, on the Caribbean island of Martinique, we had our first glimpses of the tropical landscape underneath. This image shows the little island named 'îlet Ramier, of volcanic origin, lying just offshore the southwestern coast of Martinique near the village of Les-trois-îlets. The tiny island bears spectacular fortifications from the period when the Lesser Antilles were subject to military conflicts between the colonial powers of France and England.

Mount Cook from Sealy Tarns
Despite the 2000 steps it takes to get up to this location, it's definitely worth the view with Mount Cook and the Hooker Valley below. At the time I was there, you can see that the conditions were pretty cold! So cold that I had to go down earlier than planned because I just couldn't get my sweaty clothes warm (and the steps were getting pretty icy and slippery already). I had planned to go to Mueller Hut but logistically couldn't time it without incurring another night's accommodation fee! Mueller Hut is the same vertical slog again from Sealy Tarns.
