Gulhifalhu industrial zone reclamation underway:
Boskalis International, under an agreement with Gulhifalhu Industrial Zone Limited (GIZL), has started reclaiming Kaaf atoll Gulhifalhu shallow as an industrial zone.
The image shows reclaimed 10 hectares (100 million square feet) in the first phase which was completed within three days.
Under the “eye of Maldives” project is being carried out by Global Projects Development Company, 1,500 square feet, 2,500 square feet and 3,000 square feet warehouse complexes and hotels will be built in the first phase.

Solomon Islander on Guadalcanal craving a sea going canoe which is used for fishing and traveling around the island to the weather coast (only way to access that side of Guadalcanal is via boat)
The sunset this evening was amazing. The whole sky was filled with colours and they changed from second to second - this picture doesn't come close to doing it justice.

Gentle East trade winds (15 knots on the ground, probably 20 at 60 meters altitude) were ideal for the Holyman (a 3 meters Rokkaku with holes), but the wind got stronger at 20 to 25 knots and I preferred to switch to a Delta Dan Leigh R8 to continue the maiden flight of the Leica M9 on an autoKAp Rig over the InterContinental Moorea resort & Spa.
=============
Kites : Holyman and Dan Leigh Delta R8 Cruiser
Rig : AutoKAP custom built by Brooks Leffler. controlled by a simple servo tester, roughly 1RPM (Dual Camera with a GoPro)
Cameras : HD Hero GoPRO on 5 seconds Interval mode and Leica M9 with Elmarit-M 24 mm f/2.8 ASPH triggered with a Hot Shoe Shutter AutoFinger (HSSA) every 6 seconds.
Camera Specs : Aperture priority @ f/8 , ISO 160, 1/750 sec, expodisc manual white balance

No, i do not work for MTPB!!
In a comment for my last photo, my friend Jason asked me whether I am working for the tourist board. I would like to say that here we have a Maldives Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB) but they don't give any priority to us local Photographers. But I try my best to share the beauty of Maldives for those who visit my stream and value my work.
Thanks for visiting!

Tongariki, Easter Island seen from a Kite at sunrise.
This KAP session was one of the 31 KAP & PAP sessions we had over a week stay on Easter Island… Over 10 000 images to sort, delete and edit…
The sun was out by 7:40 AM and we only had a window of 3 minutes of perfect light, the kite was already up in the air and as soon as the sun rose over the ocean the rig was up above the Moais. It was interesting to see that a dozen other visitors had also made it for sunrise, but all of them were facing the sun, we were looking for the shadows !

New Zealand's South Island is a lot more remote than the busy North Island.
This is the wildest region, the west coast of the South Island.
It's a wonderland of rainforests, moores, beaches, glaciers and mountains.
It rains on about 300 days every year!

A very warm Mahalo, Mauruuru, Merci to Tom Benedict who guided us through the telescopes of Mauna Kea Observatories and more specifically the Canada France Hawaii which hosts a world-class, 3.6 meter optical/infrared telescope.
The summit of Mauna Kea is 4200 meters high (almost as high as the Mont Blanc...4852 meters) and the sunset above the clouds is a fantastic show to watch; the moving shadow of the mountain on the clouds is an even more spectacular vision.
Just a perfect setting for a crazy KAP session where oxygen is missing and the least effort is huge but Tom, just in case, had an oxygen tank in the observatory as well as a pulsometer for heart beat and oxygen level in the blood....
KAPing at 4200 meters altitude is a very interesting experience, the air is not as dense as at sea level and despite a good 15 knots wind, the Dan Leigh Delta R8 was just enough to lift the autoKAP rig (RC rigs would not be allowed not to interfere with the radio telescopes).
This was way too short, I can imagine a time lapse of the sun going down over the clouds, a time lapse of the growing shadow of Mauna Kea, an other higher KAP session looking straight down.... Some good excuses to come back !!!
KAP, sun and snow in Hawaii, thanks again Tom.
